In two different locations, it took the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force and local San Rafael police officers to arrest 6 different suspects involved in running a suspected “drug house.”  The six persons arrested have been charged with everything from theft, possession of illegal drugs, and intent to distribute to suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and probation violations and other violations of the Health & Safety Code.  The men named in this case include: Francisco Rodas, 35; Federico Hernandex, 30; Shuber Gaston Caamel Uex, 37; Roberto Casia Gonzales, 24; Edgar Alexander Aguilar, 23; and Jose Antonio Soriano Rodas, 25.

And how did local law enforcement officials come to arrest these men? An anonymous informant tipped police off with the information that one of the suspects was selling cocaine near Anderson Drive and Bellam Boulevard.  Then, undercover agents were sent in over the past three months to buy illegal drugs from Francisco Rodas – on at least 5 occasions.

In the state of California, there is a large distinction made between simple possession of illegal drugs and intending to sell those drugs.  It remains to be seen, however, whether the police officers and Task Force members involved in the case followed the law when making these busts.  There are several different ways in which law enforcement officials can make an error when making drug-related arrests. First, they might be dependent on unreliable information from confidential informants. Second, they may lie or misrepresent their findings in official police reports. Third, they may violate California state laws on entrapment by setting up people they suspect of dealing drugs. Finally, they may bend or completely disregard search and seizure rules.
