Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment to Restrict DOJ and DEA Use of Taxpayers Funds to Combat Medical Marijuana Programs

Members of Congress from California have been bombarded with letters and communications from California citizens who support what is known as the Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment, which has already gone through the US House of Representatives with flying colors.  This measure is important because it seeks to restrict the ability of both the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from utilizing taxpayer dollars to support their harassment of medical marijuana programs in the US that are legal and authorized by voters.

In the main, this amendment to the 2015 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations Bill not only protects the people from having their hard-earned monies used for the purposes of enforcing federal marijuana laws as opposed to state laws, but also includes a section that allows hemp cultivation to continue on an industrial, state-approved level without interference from the federal government.  This is a huge boon for proponents of the de-criminalization of all aspects of marijuana use and cultivation and also for people in over 20 states in the union who have expressed their opinions through their votes. Washington is finally beginning to understand public opinion trends on this issue.  No one wishes to live in a state where marijuana is legal, but where the DEA might also have the opportunity to break down your door at any moment using your money to do so.
