34-year-old man (name withheld in order to protect the privacy of the accused) troubles started when he was pulled over by a Rohnert Park Department of Safety officer for a minor traffic violation.  The officer reports that he suspected the driver was growing marijuana and participating in marijuana trafficking. What kind of evidence was gleaned from the short traffic stop is unknown.  However, upon being released by the officer, the driver hi-tailed it home allegedly to hide a marijuana grow operation.

After a search warrant was obtained, his home was raided.  The suspect was found covered in dirt.  As this looked suspicious, officers continued to search the premises and found approximately 1,080 marijuana plants and 60 pounds of marijuana ready for sale.  Also seized was about 1 pound of hash and a large sum of cash.  Additionally, police discovered that he had what can only be called a satellite operation in Monte Rio.  There, 34-year-old suspected accomplice (name withheld in order to protect the privacy of the accused) was found in the process of digging holes to destroy marijuana plants on the premises.

(CA Health and Safety Code 11358) makes it illegal to both grow and manufacture marijuana.  This includes planting and handling seeds, cultivating, and drying for consumption.  If convicted of the crime, an individual could face up to 3 years in state prison.  On the other hand, a person could be granted parole still, this means that they may be looking at up to 1 year in county jail, hefty fines, including court costs and reporting).
